He is noted for his duality of genres that span hip hop.Machine Gun Kelly released four mixtapes between 2007 and 2010 before signing to Bad Boy Records. He released his first studio album entitled Lace Up, in 2012, which peaked at fourth place on the US Billboard 200 and contained his breakout single "Wild Boy" (featuring Waka Flocka Flame). General Admission (2015) and Bloom 2017 were his third and second albums. The latter was the one that featured the hit single "Bad Things", which was sung by Camila Cabello and peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The fourth album, Hotel Diablo (2019) featured the rap genre of rock.Machine Gun Kelly debuted his fifth album called Tickets to My Downfall, in 2020. The album marked an abrupt departure from hip hop and entry into pop punk. The track "My Ex's best friend" reached the top spot on the Billboard 200. It was the first rock album to reach this position. The album's sequel Mainstream Sellout (1922) was commercially successful.
